Logo design research

These logo designs I found very interesting, especially the use of lines and colours to portray what the company is about. The rip curl logo uses line very effectively to display the connection of the surf brand to the surf or waves. The Prada logo is very simple but the serif typeface is very easy to read and depicts through the R looking like a pair of scissors to describe the fashion aspect of the company.
Tommy Hilfiger is a very well known fashion company, I think the use of a simple san serif typeface creates an easily recognisable and interesting logo. I like the use of two colours to look almost like a flag, making it look apart of the world. The Motorolla logo design is made to look like a bridge or telephone poll, each display the background of the telephone company; I think this works very well and is effective. The toyota logo is very different although as it is a car company there was a need to create a strong and durable image that people will easily recognise. I think the circle shape is a good choice to connect everything together and to show the image of moving around the world.

I really like the lego logo as it is easy to read and the colours of red and yellow stand out, I think this is important as the product is made for children so bright colours are needed to connect with them. The quicksilver logo is very interesting and different but I think it works very well to depict the laid back attitude most surfers are like. The use of the serif typeface looks almost like a wave coming into the shore.
Dermokil is a cosmetic company with a logo very different than many other logos, I think the use of white on black is effective to display the neat product that is produced.
J'adore is a well known company around the world, as it produces perfume I think the flowed effect of the name is used to look like a sent flowing in the wind. The Keri logo of yellow on black makes the name stand out, although I'm not exactly sure what the company is about when viewing the logo on it's own. I think a better symbol could have been used instead of the one that was used.
The USO logo looks almost like the O is a candle or a fruit with the stork coming out of the top, this is different. The use of light on a dark background works well though. Bella's cosmetic company is bright and flows well making it look very nice and soft just like cosmetics should be. The Versace logo on the other hand is extremely complicated, this could be a problem as a simple design works better than a difficult design. It makes it easier for consumers to recognise the logo as the image of the company. I think the logo does work though because it is so different so it stands out more.
